Share the Dignity

White Lady Funerals is proud to support Share the Dignity.

The #itsinthebag Christmas campaign aims to give women in crisis a little happiness at Christmas. There are 85,000 homeless women who will need help this Christmas. Many have fled domestic violence or experienced extreme poverty. Share the Dignity is an organisation with the aim to provide homeless and at risk women nationally with sanitary products to allow them a sense of dignity at a time when they need it most.

Our locations (listed below) are donation points for female sanitary products during the #itsinthebag Christmas appeal which will run from Friday 22 November to Saturday 7 December 2019. All donated products will be distributed Share the Dignity to women and young girls in need.

Five hard facts

  1. Over 105,000 people are currently homeless in Australia; 44% of them identify as women. (Reported by Homelessness Australia)
  2. In 2015, at least 75 women died from domestic violence.
  3. One in four women has experienced physical or sexual violence.
  4. 25% of homelessness in women is due to domestic and family violence.
  5. Service stations and public restrooms are these women's best friends, especially during their menstrual cycle; using what hand towels and toilet paper they can find to make themselves make-shift pads.

The homeless women and girls who have fled domestic violence are using newspaper as pads as they often leave violent relationships with nothing and using their last $5 on sanitary items is not something they are choosing to do.

Share the Dignity believes that sanitary items should be a right NOT a privilege, and that no woman should suffer the indignity of choosing between eating or buying sanitary items.

Share the Dignity is the driving force behind a number of community campaigns to donate and help give support to these women in need.
